Join the PATTERNS Lab
Graduate Level
The PATTERNS Lab is contained within the West Chester University graduate (PsyD) program in clinical psychology. Research training can vary based on the goals of the graduate student, but typically includes early involvement in research manuscripts (i.e. opportunities for co-authored publications), identifying projects and papers to take lead authorship on, attending and presenting at multiple psychological conferences each year, and developing a unique line of research inquiry sufficient for a dissertation level project and beyond.
Graduate students may also be interested in learning advanced statistics (e.g. SEM, MLM, LGC) and data collection methods (diary studies, EMA), which can be marketable for a stat focused post-doc, stat consulting for academic researchers, and non-academic industry positions.
I encourage applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds.
Accepting graduate students: Yes
Undergraduate / post-bac level
The PATTERNS Lab is a great environment to gain insight into the ethics of psychological research, research design, data collection, statistics, and manuscript preparation. Several projects exist at various stages, and we are looking for enthusiastic undergraduate students ready to contribute. To be eligible to join the lab, you must be available for at least two consecutive semesters and commit to at least 6 hours per week. You may be able to earn course credit (PSY410) from the experience, though the course credit option entails a larger commitment and increased responsibilities. Individuals from diverse backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply to this lab.
The lab is closed for Fall 2021, but please email to inquire about spaces for Spring 2022.
